Trivia
The title "Hard Candy" comes from the internet slang for an under-aged girl.
The film is loosely based on a case in Japan, where a teenage girl and her friends lured and mugged an older man.
The theme of the film has also been compared to the feminist revenge/exploitation plot of the Japanese movie Audition.
The movie poster (see above) shows the girl as bait in a large body gripping/crushing trap.
Director David Slade comes from a music video background, having done clips for Aphex Twin ("Donkey Rhubarb") and Stone Temple Pilots ("Sour Girl").
